The race has generated headlines, but not for her. "Behaving yourself is not as interesting perhaps to people as misbehaving," Kryzan said.
While Jack Davis and Jon Powers have been running their campaigns and at the same time lobbing attacks against one another, Alice Kryzan has simply been running. "I got to the point where I really decided that I wanted to be able to look back on my life and say I really tried to make a difference, not that I wish I had tried," Kryzan said.
But time is running out for her to make a splash by primary day. Davis has run TV ads, and powers has won many endorsements. Kryzan says her ads will hit the air soon, so for now, she's relied on her door to door efforts. "It's really important to meet people and find out what's on their minds and let them take a look at you," Kryzan said.
She's new at campaigning. Kryzan is a lawyer who has volunteered for Planned Parenthood and women's groups. But she's never held elected office and has no legislative experience. "You can trust my experience as a lawyer, I've been a problem solver for thirty years, I have an unequaled track record in this race of bringing people of divergent interests together to solve difficult problems," she said.
We asked Jon Powers' and Jack Davis' campaigns for statements on Kryzan's role in the race. Powers said that he welcomes her participation, while Davis declined to comment about Kryzan.
