KRYZAN PRAISES CONGRESS FOR PROTECTING GREAT LAKES

September 26, 2008 — Alice Kryzan, Democratic congressional candidate for NY-26, praised Congress for approving the Great Lakes Compact:

"Since the beginning of my campaign I have stressed the importance of maintaining and protecting our valuable freshwater resources. I am pleased to see that Congress is taking steps to preserve this critical resource. In Congress, I will make sure that this commitment to our Great Lakes is maintained, backed by the necessary federal policies and funding."

The Great Lake Compact, which has received widespread bipartisan support, prevents massive water diversions. In addition to supporting the Great Lakes Compact, Alice supports legislation to grant Congress the necessary power to preserve and restore our nation's waters and legislation that would assist local communities in maintaining and upgrading their wastewater treatment facilities and infrastructure.
