Amherst, NY —Another day, another refusal from Chris Lee to say where he stands on the issues. As Rochester's WHAM News reported yesterday, "Republican candidate Chris Lee has not been willing to take a position on the House’s version of the financial bailout/rescue plan." Lee's website touts deregulation and his support for "policies that increase the incentives for businesses to take risks." Yet now that Americans have seen the disastrous results of these types of policies, Chris Lee has nothing to say.

But this silence is nothing new. Tonight, Alice will debate an empty chair at SUNY Geneseo, because Lee declined to debate. And Lee has offered no plan on how to create jobs or keep them in the district. With a record like his, there are questions about whether he even wants to.

Alice knows we need a representative who will fight for our part of New York, making sure that good paying jobs stay here in the area. That’s why she will fight sending jobs overseas, ensuring that trade agreements give all American workers an equal playing field. Alice is also committed to reversing the "brain drain", keeping students in the area by creating good jobs and providing start-up capital to make it easier to take the discoveries of the classroom into the market.

Since Lee won't explain his policy positions, the only place left to look is his record. Lee has proven that he can create jobs in China, but how will he make sure jobs stay here? Lee has offered no plan to prevent outsourcing, saying only that he supports more deregulation and tax cuts for millionaires. But the working families of Western New York have seen the result of these failed policies—more jobs shipped overseas and more families struggling to make ends meet here at home.

"While Western New Yorkers are looking for solutions to fix our weakened economy, Chris Lee is in the corner, stunned to silence," said spokesperson Anne Wadsworth. "Now is not the time to dodge debates, flip flop on the issues or hide behind false and misleading political ads—now is the time to take a stand and fight for our community. Chris Lee doesn't have the courage."

This is just more of the same from Chris Lee. He hasn'’t taken a position on the financial crisis or explained how he'll bring jobs to the district. Maybe Lee thinks these issues aren't important enough to address, but Alice understands that the people of Western New York deserve answers:

"It's time for a change," said Kryzan.  "For too long this district has been ignored by Bush Republicans who care more about political gamesmanship than helping our struggling middle class. As your representative, I'll go to Washington and be an independent voice for you."

How does Chris Lee plan to keep jobs in the district, and not send them overseas? It's a question that needs answering.
