Amherst, NY — Today Kryzan for Congress announced the formation of Green Businesses for Alice, a bipartisan group of green business representatives from Western New York who support Alice Kryzan for Congress in New York's 26th district. Surrounded by an array of innovative green products in Glen Falls Park, Alice Kryzan was joined by Congressman Rahm Emanuel and representatives from several green businesses from around Western New York to highlight the innovation taking place in the area and the potential for growth in this emerging industry.
"I am so honored to have the support of these business people who represent the innovation and entrepreneurship that will help to revive the economy here and across New York," said Alice Kryzan. "The emerging green economy has the potential to create thousands of jobs in our area and lead us out of this financial crisis and into prosperity. Western New York introduced the world to the power of alternative energy, and I believe that with smart policies and investments in Washington, we can put Western New York back on the map as a center of innovation and prosperity in the coming green economy."
The Chair of Green Businesses for Alice, Andrew McLellan, runs Environmental Education Associates, the largest environmental certification training provider in Upstate New York. He noted that,
"The term 'Green Economy' has been overused to the point that many people can't really visualize what it means. We want to show the world that the green economy is real, and that it is growing. Alice understands this, and from her decades of experience in environmental law, she understands what green businesses need to grow and to ultimately create jobs."
Congressman Emanuel applauded Kryzan's innovative focus on addressing the economic crisis facing the nation.
"In these tough financial times, America needs leadership in Washington to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship to help resuscitate our fallen economy," said Rep. Emanuel. "Alice Kryzan offers the people of Western New York a solid, common-sense approach to creating jobs."
From solar panels to wind power, to more efficient building materials and hazardous waste removal, the array of green products already being created here in Western New York is truly remarkable. Western New York's natural resources, geography, infrastructure, and workforce make this region ideally situated to be at the forefront of these emerging industries.
"In Congress, I will fight for legislation that would dramatically increase our nation's investment in alternative energy production and encourage innovation and entrepreneurship to create the new green industries of the future," said Kryzan. "Growing the green economy and attaining energy independence are critical not only for our environment, but for our economy and our national security as well."
Attending the event were several members of Green Businesses for Alice; business innovators and entrepreneurs who are creating green energy technologies in Western New York.
