Reynolds Out, Kryzan Rising

March 20, 2008

Amherst, NY – Congressman Tom Reynolds (R-NY) is expected to announce his retirement from the U.S. House of Representatives today. Attorney Alice Kryzan, Democratic Candidate for the 26th district, is running an aggressive campaign for this now open seat. In response to Congressman Reynolds’ impending retirement, Kryzan said:

“I wish Congressman Reynolds the best in his retirement. Change is sweeping across America right now, and voters are fed up with business as usual; it’s time for a Democrat to represent the 26th district. Our economy is on the brink of recession, and working families are getting hit from every angle. Gas prices are nearing $4 a gallon, while food prices, college tuition and health care costs continue to rise.

"We must change course, and we need to start with new leadership. As a working mother, attorney, and community volunteer, I have the experience necessary to bring change. I understand the needs and concerns of families in Western New York –they are my concerns, too. As the Congresswoman representing NY-26, I will bring good-paying green collar jobs to Western New York, fight for affordable health care for everyone, and vote to bring an end to the war in Iraq – which I’ve opposed from the beginning.

“All across Western New York, I’ve met voters who are hungry for change, and people are responding to our message. As the only lifelong Democrat in this race and the only woman, I have the profile, biography and experience needed to win. It’s time someone stood up for the right priorities for Western New York.”
