Green for Green

Today is Earth Day, and the campaign is launching a new program – “Green for Green.” As you probably know, Alice has lived, worked and volunteered in the district for 30 years. She has been at the forefront of change her entire life, working on everything from civil rights law to women’s issues. But Alice is also an avid environmentalist – as a former environmental attorney, she understands the issues of global warming, the energy economy, and conservation better than most.

So we’re starting a new club called “Green for Green” – a group of people who, like Alice, are deeply concerned about our environment and our energy economy. Please donate $38 today to join “Green for Green” in honor of the 38th annual Earth Day! Email from Alice regarding Earth Day and Green for Green:

Today is Earth Day, and I want to remind you how important this year’s election will be to our ability to seriously address the climate change crisis and jump start the Western New York economy at the same time.

After attending Earth Day events for Monroe County on transportation issues and Erie and Niagara Counties on clean water and air issues, as well as the Green Economy Summit, my conviction that we must move quickly to a clean, green economy has become even stronger. To do this we need two things: more elected officials with the experience, resolve and vision to get us there, and a strong showing of support from voters for candidates who want to move us in that direction. So we’re launching a special GREEN for GREEN contribution club for my campaign. By contributing your dollars in this way, you will signal that climate change, renewable energy and green collar jobs are matters of vital importance to you. Will you join our 2008 GREEN for GREEN club and recognize the 38th anniversary of Earth Day by contributing $38.00 or $380.00 today?

These environmental and energy issues have been at the heart of my campaign since I announced my candidacy at the Step It Up rally in November 2007. As I have said before, I believe that the green economy will provide enormous environmental and economic benefits to Western New York.
